Description:

Certified Institutional Protection Specialist (CIPS) certification designates those professionals working in, or directly responsible for the protection of cultural facilities or public institutions. This course is offered through the International Federation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP) with special adaptations for museumclasses.org students. This IFCPP basic certification is for proprietary or contract security officers, supervisors, security training managers, human resources, facilities managers, registrars, curators, or other staff with duties in facility protection. As the world security situation changes, our program expands to include topical information and improved tactics for combating elevated threats. Security officers meeting the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection's requirements for certification, to include completion of a background investigation, will also be eligible for CIPS certification by completing all 11 topics and online written quizzes for each segment. The program includes a brief examination after each online video class, as well required certification paperwork. The Certified Institutional Protection Manager (CIPM) program provides the latest information for managers, directors, administrators, or others responsible for cultural property protection, human safety, and security in a cultural institution of any size or scope. To receive the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection's CIPM certification, attendees must pass a background check, participate in the online course, and successfully complete written examination. Qualification forms, background check authorization, and additional instructions will be e-mailed upon receipt of registration. Upon successful completion of the final exam, participants will be awarded CIPM certification. (Students may attend the course without intending to apply for certification.)Certified Institutional Protection Specialist (CIPS) certification designates those professionals working in, or directly responsible for the protection of cultural facilities or public institutions.
