Description: The Certified Institutional Protection Manager (CIPM) program provides the latest information for managers, directors, administrators, or others responsible for cultural property protection, human safety, and security in a cultural institution of any size or scope. To receive the International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection’s CIPM certification, attendees must pass a background check, participate in the online course, and successfully complete written examination. Qualification forms, background check authorization, and additional instructions will be e-mailed upon receipt of registration. Upon successful completion of the final exam, participants will be awarded CIPM certification. (Students may attend the course without intending to apply for certification.) The International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection (IFCPP) offers certification for persons working in, or responsible for, cultural property protection. Their multi-tiered program applies to security officers, supervisors, directors, administrators, facility managers, human resources staff, curators, registrars, librarians, and others who wish to gain crucial information and education about the latest methods available in protecting cultural, educational, and public institutions. CIPM and CIPS certifications are recognized by leading institutions and organizations, including the American Association of Museums (AAM), the American Library Association (ALA), and ASIS International (formerly the American Society for Industrial Security). Attendance provides recertification points for several organizations. Course Outline:
